Lemongrass is an evergreen perennial herbaceous plant with long, bright light green ribbon-like leaves that are quite thick and drooping, which are carried by erect, stiff, small bamboo-like stems. Its shape is very similar to that of chives but the leaves have a final white bulb, reminiscent of that of leeks. Lemongrass is typically used in Vietnamese and Thai cuisine to give a particular flavor and enhance the taste of meat and fish, it can also be used as an aromatic herb, in particular it is used for the preparation of teas, herbal teas, soups and sauces.
